This weekend I was craving majorly for lasagna and tried a different recipe with ground beef.

I was thrilled by the fruitful end results which were totally worth all the time and the efforts.




Try it out and enjoy the goodness that this treat has to offer to your taste buds.



Ingredients:
  • 3/4 pound of ground beef
  • 1.5 a pound of Italian sausages
  • Crushes garlic (3 cloves)
  • 1/2 cup of minced onion
  • 1 can of crushed tomatoes (30 ounces)
  • tomato sauce (2 cans = 7 ounces)
  • tomato paste (2 cans = 6.5 ounces)
  • 3/4 cup of water
  • 1 teaspoon of dried basil leaves
  • 2 tablespoons of sugar
  • 1 teaspoon of Italian seasoning
  • 1/4 teaspoon of fennel seeds
  • salt 1 and 1/2 teaspoon or to taste
  • 3 tablespoons of fresh chopped parsley
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper
  • 15 ounces ricotta cheese
  • 12 sheets of lasagna noodles
  • 1/2 pound of grated mozzarella cheese
  • 1 egg
  • 3/4 cup of parmesan cheese

Directions:

  1. Cook ground beef, sausages, onion, and garlic in a cooking pot until they are golden brown.
  2. Now add tomato paste, tomato sauce, crushed tomatoes, and water.
  3. Mix in Italian seasoning, sugar, salt, black pepper, parsley, fennel, and basil.
  4. Let it cook at low flame for over an hour. Keep stirring occasionally.
  5. Boil lasagna noodles as per the packet instructions. 
  6. In a large bowl combine together egg and ricotta cheese.
  7. Preheat the oven to 375 degrees.
  8. For assembly spread 1 and 1/2 cup of meat sauce at the bottom of the baking dish, then add a layer of lasagna sheets,  Add a layer of ricotta cheese and egg mixture, then add mozzarella cheese and again add 1 and 1/2 cup of meat sauce. Noe repeat these layers again to finish all the material.
  9. Cover the dish with foil and bake for 25 minutes then remove the foil and bake for another 25 minutes.
  10. Remove from the oven and let it cool for 15 minutes
